DIY Kit - Spring Boots Door Hanger

$27.99

This 16" Door Hanger kit is an unfinished paint it yourself kit.  All pieces come unfinished/unpainted and will need to be glued.  You can finish with paint and/or stain to your desired look.

Unfinished, unassembled plywood, precut laser wood cutout. Each layer is approximately 0.25" thick. Laser cutters will produce a burned edge on the cutout pieces.  This is normal.  They can be left as is or easily painted.

Kit includes:

  • 16" Round Wood Backer
  • All cut pieces as shown in photo (Note: To save on cost, the lettering has been cut from base pieces of the boot since they will not show once other layers are glued on top.) Boots are 3 cut layers.
  • 2 Foam Sponge Wedges to use for painting lettering & any other small pieces
  • Nice Wood Hanger w/twine - Can be mounted so no hanger shows or with some twine showing.

Assembly Notes:

Boots Shoe Strings - You will need to pick a flat/no wire ribbon or very thin fabric strips in order to be able to glue the top layer of the boot to the middle layer.  (Sari Silk used in our finished photo)  Once you apply the glue you may need to clamp the top piece to the middle piece and let sit overnight. Or place something heavy on top to hold it in place while the glue hardens.

Another option with laces would be to lace up the boots and put glue in the underside of the holes where the laces come thru, let that dry, then cut off the excess in the back so your piece will lay flat for gluing to the next layer.

Gluing Boot Layers - Easiest to glue the back layer to your round first (Back layers are the ones that have the words cutout of them and wont need painting).  Next, paint and lace your front boot layer, decide on string assembly from above notes.  Paint your middle layer of the boot, just the top flowers & stems, then glue that top layer to the middle layer clamping or laying something heavy on it overnight.

General NOTES:  Wood may have variations in color, grain, and knots that are naturally occurring.  Finished projects are recommended to be used indoors, on a covered front door or porch as the elements may cause door hanger to weather faster or warp.  Direct sunlight may cause your sign to fade more quickly.

Order Processing:  All orders are made to order so please allow 1 week (5 Business Days) to process your order.  We make each kit to order.
